Vectored.Elements.Mask (Vectored v0.4.0)

The <mask> element defines an alpha mask for compositing objects into the background.

Why use a Mask?

Masks are different from clipping paths. While a clipPath is a hard "cookie cutter" (visible or not), a mask allows for transparency and gradients.

Luminance Masking: By default, SVG masks use the brightness of the mask's content to determine transparency. White in the mask means the object is fully visible; black means it is fully hidden; grey means it is semi-transparent.
Complex Fading: Use a linearGradient inside a mask to make an image fade away gradually.
